Closer to the Nature

26 Feb

When I was younger, I always toyed with the dream in becoming a national geographer apart from engineer, architect, and even a policewoman! Yes, my ambition changes each year and these are among what I wrote when the teacher distributed our record card. They are still in a good hand now.

These are the photograph attempts by a once entomologist or geographer wanna-be, yours truly. Talking about insects, I remembered that I gathered the most number of insects among my classmates to be brought to school when I was in Form 2. I wasn’t afraid of insects in general except for cockroaches and biting or venomous crawlies.

Pix below was taken after a baptism service sometime in Dec 2010 at Moyog river. Initially, I was planning to blog about the baptism, foot washing as well as the holy communion. But, due to time constraint, I think they are/will be going into the never-never land. Perhaps, sometime when I have the luxury of time =).

Pesta Ang Pow

20 Feb

I definitely have heaps to catch up in terms of blogging. I have so much in mind to talk about, yet time are so limited. Lab work and more lab works to come.  Worse, they are giving some maddening itchiness which is almost unbearable during the night time. Let’s just hope that these occurrences were merely coincidences. Hence, at the moment, I am leaving you some videos taken during the previous Pesta Ang Pow, the second occasion I have attended apart from Pesta Tanglung. :)   More to catch up and I promise to be back for more updates and credits here. Till then, please take care and have an awesome week ahead. =)

Glorious CNY Goodies

Nothing can make a soul happier than food, especially food you rarely able savor which happened to be a ‘trademark’ of some places. Tau sar peah or better known as tambun biscuit, to name one. All this while, I have only tried Penangnites’ tambun biscuit or Perakian’s tau sar peah from Petaling Street, KL. This time around, I have to thank a friend, Nicholas for bringing the tambun biscuit across the South China Sea along with a packet of preserved nutmeg for us all the way from the ‘pearl of the orient’. But, I had the nutmeg all for myself as both Kuo and Joyce does not fancy them *cunning grin*.

According to Nicholas, this may not be the most famous tambun biscuit among the Penangnites and incomparable to those freshly out from the oven, yet they still tasted fabulous to me. Food, oh glorious food =)

Welcoming the bunny

Tong Tong Chiang!

1 Feb

How is your last minute preparation for the Chinese New Year which is coming along? As for us, we have done almost everything, except for beef jerky and roasted meat which we have ordered earlier and planned to collect tomorrow before picking my bro up from the NS camp. The bunny year which is coming along may be a silent one for all of us. Relatives from afar are not flying back, and neither we are flying over. But nothing has ceased from the preparation side except that we have tried to omit all carbonate drinks but to be replaced by Shandy (carbonate drink also eh?),  PeterVella (red wine) and Chinese tea leaves.

Decoration wise, we don’t usually put up huge lanterns like what we used to do in our old house, we only have one mere living plum tree. The plum blossoms are literally blossoming on the branches of our Indian apple tree at our side yard. ;P

As for cloths, I managed three sets, where two of them were dresses, and a set of jeans and blouse along with a pair of heels. In fact, I wasn’t planning to get any this year as I have bought about 10 pairs of heels in 2010, and I only wear them once or twice in a week. But temptations are hard to resist, and girls and shoes are simply inseparable. From covered, pointed, lacey, strappy, peep-toes, sling backs, pumps, kitten heels, killer stilettos and eventually I ended with a wedged heels which is exactly the same as my sis’, but different in color without. It was too late and I did not even go through their racks at all. It was the first time I tried only a single pair, which looked OK on me, exactly the size I wanted and I requested the sales lady to get me a new pair of the same design and size thereafter headed to the counter. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. ;)

Last but not least, before we make the entrance into the year of the lovely bunny which will be approaching in 2 days time, I would like to take the pride as a Leonine cum a fire tigress in the year of the metal tiger to wish all of you a better, promising, fulfilling, rewarding and prosperous new year 2011. This cycle only happen to me once in a cycle of 12 years. By the time the next cycle approaches, I will turn 36 and only time will tell what are God’s plan for me. I hope I don’t spend my time merely for “roaring” and “prancing”. Gong Xi Fa Cai :-)
