2010 In Preview

29 Dec

It’s about time to bid farewell to 2010 – a time to reflect on all that’s happened in throughout theyear, to rejoice in the good things that life brought upon us, to learn from mistakes of the past year, and to face the disappointments thrown our way.

Achievements (not-so-grand)

Here are my shares of my so-called achievements throughout the year:

#1 I have braved myself to have my fringe short (eyebrow length) after having it long/longer for many years. I have kept that for a year now, and I have no plan to keep that up for the following year. I dislike the idea when the fringe is poking my eyes when I cannot even clip them up properly.

#2 I have done with the 10 weeks of internship training (which is compulsory), which I dreaded most since before I entered the uni, although my previous internship in a construction site for six months during my diploma was a pleasant one. *shame on me!*

#3 I finally landed my feet on the city of nature. Although it was a field trip by the uni (also a compulsory one), I still count it as an ‘effort’ to pay the boss’ family a visit despite his umpteenth visits here (be it official or personal).

#4 I am stepping into my last semester next year. I know that I will be missing uni life very much after I graduated, but this is also what I anticipated most. I am such a contradictory person yea?

#5 I have replaced my old trusty lappie. This is one of the reasons why I have been an ardent photo-shopper :-)

#6 I started online shopping sometime in September this year, and I cannot believe that I am such an addict now. That also explains why I have to be so thrifty now. :P

Resolutions:

I remember so many instances where I would get excited from a sprout of inspiration, then developing them into ideas, talk to someone about it and eventually, I have gotten myself busy with a completely different matter. Well, the idea isn’t exactly forgotten but … they went in the to-do list!

This is the problem of mine; my lists of to-do tasks are growing in minutes but have never been ticked off. Worse, some of them have gone to never-never-land. *sigh*Am I just too lazy? I don’t like to think that; but it seems to be the blatant fact.

I can point my fingers at multiple possibilities of my lack of motivation; workloads; exhaustion; inaccessible resources and so, it goes on and on. Gahh.. I’m making up excuses right now. I should stop thinking of the many reasons why I’m not doing what I should and focus on actually coming up with action plans. We all should!

There are several things I would like to do but have yet realized to-date:

#1 I want to learn baking and cake decorating. It was a waste for having quite a spacious kitchen at home. I still remember I was first inspired to bake when I won a whisker during a lucky draw session in Sutera Harbour many years back. Yet, I gave up when my first batch of cookies didn’t turn out a success. See, I am not a very determined person =( Although I don’t really love eating cakes, I adore seeing nicely decorated cakes, or cuppies as birthday pressies for their loved ones, relatives, friends. Generally for everything, cakes are always presentable especially when they come with some personal touch.

#2 I wished to own a huge walk in closet and a room surrounded by glass frames and book racks. I am running out of space with my piles of books and cloths.

#3 I hope to master Japanese cuisine. So far, I have only attempted two bathes of not-so-japanese sushi(s).  I am looking forward to try my hand for some temari-zushi someday. Someday.

#4 I have been taking thousands of photos yearly, yet I don’t remember of developing them into hard copies even once except for some necessary matters. Hence, I must get at least a few good photos to be framed up by next year.

#5 To drive a car on my own. I had my driving license since early 2004, but to-date, I have never driven a car independently. It was really a waste where we have cars enough for everyone of us in the family, yet they are parking in the car porch most of the time. Besides, there is a car in the uni for the Convenience of both my sis and I. But, yours truly rather touched down the school as early as 6.00am (being sent) than to drive the car from the hostel when I have no companion. Do you feel like knocking my head now? :P

Random:

#1 Souvenirs

Here are some of the souvenirs I received from my dearies and acquaintances; namely, Japan, Taiwan and the ‘Land of the Hornbills’ (Sarawak). *pictures will be updated*

#2 Health

I think I have got the worst health state this year compared to previous years, to exaggerate, in my lifetime to-date. I was down to a bad cough after the Chinese New Year for more than 3 months. No herbs, antibiotics seemed to work. Some confession here: I didn’t take the whole course of antibiotics prescribed to me. I don’t remember of taking any course of antibiotics before. When I was younger, my late grandpa (my dad’s side) who was a Chinese physician used to be my ‘doctor’ for almost everything up to ants bite. Hahaha! Hence, I was brought up with all sorts of Chinese herbs and medicine. That explains my ignorance (or reluctance to be exact) and to self-claimed when to stop or retake antibiotics prescribed to me.

After the bad cough, it was followed by nose congestion which I suspected due to allergy of dust mite. Both my eyes and nose are very very sensitive towards dust. Measles-like tend to emerge around my eyes area when I am exposed to thick dust. =( Later, I suspected a symptom of sinus or worse, asthma. This lasted me for months. I dreaded to see a doctor and thank God, it is recovering now. Not forgetting, a muscle pull and also a diarrhea which landed me on the bed for 2 days with bad nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. Sigh.

Happy New Year 2011

Before we make the entrance into the new year, here I am wishing all of you a better, promising and fulfilling year 2011 ahead. ;)
