Of being biased and Sushi King

30 Nov

As I have once posted, October and November were treating me good, where Kelv had to travel very often to and fro KK and KL for meeting, conferences and some exhibition, just to name a few *cunning grin*. Hence, cut the long story short, we get to see each other more often than usual. Usually, I was given the privilege to decide where to dine, but when I was to return the offer to him, we will always settle for Japanese food. Being a scale modeler, surrounded by Japanese colleague, anime huge fan, there is no surprise for him to love anything related to Japan/ese so much :-)

Being a photographer himself, he is very used to me clicking away before we can start eating. Lol. But, most of the time, he will usually leave the food photography to me. So, whenever you see blurry and unprofessional food photographs, you will know who to blame :-) That day, when we settled for Sushi King for dinner starter or hi-tea (was called so because it was 4-ish pm and both of us were half full as we had taken our lunch earlier. What drew my attention most was the Spider Temaki, which I have yet tried before. After a couple of clicks, I covered the camera lens and this boss acclaimed that I was being biased as I neglected the sushi(s), cawan mushi along with other complimentary dishes as well as ice-cream coming along with the fry set. Lol.

Trying to cover myself, I convinced him that I can make better sushi than theirs *wink* and I will show off my first attempt soon :-) Upon renewal of the membership card this year, a 2011 calendar, 20MR food voucher as well as a handy melamine rice bowl/container with lid were given as goodies. Bet you can guess to whose hand have they landed to *wink*

The Belated Birthday (Kuo)

26 Nov

Another belated birthday lunching-in =) This time for Kuo, we dined for Spanish food at La Fuente, One Borneo. The nicely decorated restaurant was decently priced too. The top four pictures were the surrounding and the ambient inside the restaurant itself. This restaurant will turn into a pub during night time. I love how they displayed the bottles (with beer inside) on the custom made ceiling display rack. Just like our previous experience in the Korean restaurant, we had this restaurant almost all by ourselves too.

For the food, we had salad as our appetizer. There were two types of salad offered by the restaurant; namely the Ceaser Salad and Garden Salad. Unfortunately, they only had a bit ingredient of each type; hence, our salad bowl was a mix and match between the mentioned two (second picture from top right).

For the main meal, we have none other but pasta. The birthday girl had her Pasta Aglio Olio con Salchichas Ternera, which is beef sausage in aglio olio style with spaghetti (third picture from top right). While, Joyce had her Pasta Arabiaata, chicken cubes in tomato sauce with Linguine (bottom right end) while I had my Pasta Jamon, chicken ham in creamy sauce with Fettucine. All lunch set came with smoothies, we opted for chocolate instead of vanilla.

Not enough with that, we were so eager to try their soup. All of them looked very scrumptious, but in the end we narrowed down to potato and leek creamy soup with croutons which was served along with bread =).

The Belated Birthday (Joyce)

24 Nov

It was a lunch dine-in for Joyce’s belated birthday. This time around, we settled for Korean food at Restoran Korea, which was located in Api-Api Centre. The ambient in the restaurant was very comfortable and homey.

Fast forward to the main dishes we ordered are Denjang-Chigeh (bean paste stew) and Bul-Go-Gi (pork mixed in special sauce) which were eaten with steamed rice. Korean food is never complete unless they are represented with a set of ‘banchan’ (side dishes); namely the raddish kimchi, cabbagae kimchi, fried anchovies, sigumchi namul (Taiwanese spinach which was cooked the Korean way) and grains (black beans). Not forgetting, denjang (bean paste) with salad leaves, chili slices and garlic cloves. The entire dining was pleasant as we were among the only patrons on that time, hence, we owned the entire restaurant for ourselves.

The only thing missing here was only soju =). Instead, we were served with a kind of dessert drink, which I don’t know what was it, tasted somehow like almond and cinnamon drink, which was said to be very good for digestion system.

Of Cosway Loots

22 Nov

I am not a member or big fan of Cosway products, but every now and then, I do used to drop in, be it window shopping or randomly pick an item or two. Yesterday, I landed my feet there while my mom was shopping for some groceries at the market. The sales representative from Cosway outlet in Lido was very hospitable and friendly. Out of curiosity to try new products and due to the great deal offered, I ended up spending 100MR in less than ten minutes time :) . Here are my loots; the goat’s milk shower creme  with pomegranate extract was indeed a great deal. The refill pack was supposed to be sold with 17MR each (of 750ml), whilst the bottled with dispenser of 1L was sold with 26MR. I am so glad that there was (will be) a big bang deal where you can get a bottle of 1L along with 2 individual packets of 750ml only with 30.90MR. I saved almost by 50% here, who’ll not love it =) In fact, the promotion starts only in December, but the salesgirl offered me to issue me a hand bill if I am buying, where they will only computerized the purchase only when December approaches. They were indeed very brilliant in doing business, rather than losing potential buyers :) Apart from that, I managed myself some facial masks (out of curiosity despite having 2 more boxes of 10 pieces each remaining in my cupboard from the boss). Two packs of multivitamin mask, where there I get some discount over the second purchase (only for  multivitamin mask) as well as a packet of Active-C Whitening Mask, which was well reputed by the outlet’s assistant. Some people claimed ‘that was how easy to earn money from ladies’ =).

Coffee, Tea or Me?

18 Nov

I am the greatest enemy of coffee, from cappuccino, mocca, latte, Nescafe, ‘kopi o’ and all sorts. I really dislike its aroma too as I found it very distracting , bothersome and make me feeling groggy. I am the opposition party of my boss here. Hehe. But, there is no offence for us to visit Coffee Bean as I can still have my fair share of chocolate shake with vanilla cream. But, on the contrary side, I am the number one fan of tea, all sorts from anywhere (China, Taiwan, Japan or even our local Indian tea; namely The Boh and Sabah Tea) will do great. I have my own justification or taste bud when it comes to tea and I can tell what sort of tea being served (not always correct though). Hehe. Lately, I am so proud to announce that I have found a new love, the green milk tea from Teabox. It was indeed a bliss when we have a Teabox kiosk just behind our backyard here (at the café actually). First introduced by Joyce, and I just cannot resist it now. There were nicer coming along with with pearl or Nata de Coco jelly. Simply thirst quenching and refreshing. :)

My trusty calculator died on me

12 Nov

My trusty scientific calculator has died on me, not because of malfunctioned, most probably because the battery power has run off. Not a biggie issue at all to blog about, but I think it’s still worth blogging as it had been serving me for more than 7 years now without needing any battery or parts replacement, which is a very reasonable duration :-) . In fact, it has shown some symptom during my previous Traffic and Highway engineering paper. It was sort of blinking yet, I did not suspect any battery drainage, instead, I suspected that it may be caused by my eyesight under the exam hall’s dim light or the eyesight angle on how I looked into my calculator from the position I was sitting at. LOL,that’s the oblivious me as usual ;P

I must have been taking its trusty service for granted without a little consideration that it needs periodical (a long one) maintenance as well :P Besides, you may be able to see that I am not the kind of ‘very science and technology’ person, where I don’t frequently change my belongings as the trend goes on (perhaps not financially independent… yet) Haha. They usually get worn out/off/died before I find a replacement, when it comes to lap top, handphone or so, which I hope it does not happen to me for this calculator of mine as I am needing it seriously next Monday for Prof Rao’s paper :) In fact, it is still working when I have the time to bask it under the light, since it is a dual power Casio fx-991MS, but this does not give me a  guarantee service when I get into the exam hall for 3 long hours, that’s the merit I love about it :) By the way, this is not a sponsored post. Hehehe.

Purchasing Shopping Bag

12 Nov

I *heart* all kinds of bag, be it hand bags, shoulder bags, sling bags to shopping bags aka recycle bag. Yet, I seldom purchase any of the recycle bag, except for a couple of time. Many of the time, they were complimentary gifts over an event or conventional activities. Lately, I have gotten myself a shopping bag from Moncabas Picard, simply because of its design, color and size. :) Did I mention that I am a laundry bags (new one) collector too? Lol ;P

I survived 36 hours stay-up

12 Nov

I survived, or I should say that I managed to force myself to stay-up in getting my first thesis report done yesterday, which I have handed up yesterday afternoon. I was the first time in my entire life, after living on this lovely Earth for more than 24 years to stay up more than a day without a little chance to sneak for a short nap. Old habit really dies hard to me, some claimed that I am being too worried than anything. As for the ‘boss’, I think he was being more worried that I was ought to be. I am such a procrastinator! The fact which I cannot deny myself. Most of the time when I am down to free hours, I rather spend the time with hogging on my lappy to do some blog hopping and some photography related hobby since I found that I have been abundaning the ‘giant’ camera for too long now, I found it a lot more convenient to lug my compact camera most of the time, apart from strolling around the shopping malls (outdoor).

The stay up wasnt something I can be proud of afterall, and I promised myself that this bad habit must be weaned off.  It gave me a heart beat flatline when I came across with an article that the habit of staying late will cause depression (something I believe to do with psychology and seen in certain of my friends, yet controllable when you attempt to put a downward curve on your lips) and liver cancer (something we cannot judge until they become bolder and gives you a lifetime agony). I have compensated my stay-up with a total of 15 hours sleep (not the type of deep sleep), which is a whopping sleeping hours for me on a normal basis, and I wonder if it helps.
